The minutes from the last meeting (CCM_Minutes20040112) were accepted unanimously by the Church Council after a few alterations.
Matters Arising:
- Howard and Donna DIEHL are still training with International Teams mission society. They are keeping in contact with us and seem to fit in with our style, which is encouraging.

| Treasurer's report
The Treasurer presented the Church accounts to the Council. The Council passed the accounts (all in favour) and they can now be presented for audit before the Annual General Meeting (AGM). Some of the items discussed included:
- The youth group income and expenditure.
- The Memorial Fund Income is the collections received from 3 funerals. Some of the income is actually money that is being held for the Ensley Family until the beneficiaries are made know to the church. The expenses to the Memorial fund include items such as The Silk Banners, The Lectern.
- Charitable Giving Income is made up of specific collections.
- Charitable Giving Expenses is the Churches Tithe.
- The Church gives money to a number of charities. It was suggested the Council hear a breakdown of the Charitable Giving Expenses by name.
- The Chaplain’s stipend is paid by the ‘Association de l’Eglise Anglicane’:
The President of which is Alison Coulavin, Vice President David Bailey, the Treasurer Richard Shepherd and Secretary Mark Lewis.
The Treasurer distributed three reports: Summary of Income for the year 2004, Summary of Expenditure for the year 2004 and a comparative Summary of Income and Expenses for the years 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004. The Chaplain and Council recognised the Treasurer’s hard work.

| Committee reports
There were no committee reports.
| | 101.
| Residual matters emerging from the 3 years ahead topic
- Sunday school teacher training, support and encouragement.
The council heard proposition to put together a joint training event between the Lyon and Grenoble Chaplaincies. The idea would be to secure the services of Scripture Union (or another appropriate agency CPAS or the Arch Deaconry) to allow all Sunday school teachers a time of training.
On the subject of training: The Council agreed to send two church members to the National Youth Training Seminar, and agreed to pay subscription expenses and journey (all in favour).
- How do we grow in faith and equip ourselves to share it?
The Council received a hand-out from the Chaplain entitled ‘Mission-Shaped Church’. The paper had been presented at the Synod and concerns connecting with people who are not part of the church. The Council was invited to read the paper for later debate.
-Need for a creed (or the finer points of what we believe)
The Council received a copy of the ICS basis of Faith and a resume of Anglican teaching which is also part of the church web site ‘What It Means to be an Anglican’. The Chaplain also referred to our ‘We believe we therefore emphasise that’ statement. The questions asked at this point were: Is it helpful to be more specific? At what point are we becoming exclusive?
It was reminded that the question of ‘Need for a Creed’ was originally brought up following some misunderstanding between a Sunday school teacher and a parent in regards to bible interpretation concerning just how literal the creation story in Genesis was to be taken. The Council agreed that it should be made clear that no view was to be placed above another in issues such as these and that it should be reminded that ‘we agree on the essential’. Sunday school teachers should in some way be made aware of what should be taught as Gospel truth and what should be left open to interpretation. The Council also thought that the ICS Basis of Faith should appear as part of the Church website.

| The lower bathroom
The lower bathroom in the church apartment has been seen to. The Bath was resurfaced by a company called RENOVBAIN. The taps and shower fittings were changed. Thanks to Craig and Mark for their work.

| Review of past & future events
- 29th and 30th January - Youth Ski Weekend. The weekend went extremely well and the organisers seem to be getting all the wiser. The youth group invited several of their friends to the weekend. The WE was led by Champfleuri staff. A question was raised as to the legal setup of such camps. It seems that as the camps are organised through the Champfleuri holiday centre there should be no legal or insurance problems in case of an accident.
- 6th February - Youth group and the Tsunami appeal meal. This event went well too. 130 people stayed for lunch. The whole setup was well organised and the Video Projector was greatly appreciated.
- 11th March 19h30 - Men's Supper, speaker Dr Brad Kay of World Health Organisation. There is a change of venue for the Men’s Supper: The Golf Club at Bresson will be hosting the event.
- 13th March - Auction of Promises after 10h45 service and Attendees should remember to bring a packed lunch.
- 8th April – A Fundraising Supper will be held at the Castellan Restaurant. There will be a choice between two menus. A flyer will soon be available.
- 13th-15th May – Church Away Weekend at Champfleuri. The speaker for the WE will be The Chaplain of ICS Chaplaincy of Brussels who is now retired: Rev Nigel WALKER. The speaker’s expenses will come out of church funding. An appeal will be made afterwards if needed.
| | 104.
| Church project(s)
There are no current Church Projects.
| | 105.
| Any Other Matters (or AOB)
105a – Can we go ahead with a new notice board? We are waiting of for permission to have a permanent notice board in place.
105b – Can we buy and fit some door closers? Yes.
105c – Does the Web Forward Planner fit the purpose? Yes.
105d – The Council heard the proposal to think and pray about the feasibility of creating some sort of community centre for the church/Christians in Grenoble as a form of bonding and outreach.
