| Treasurer’s Report (my minute taking started at this point)
A good cumulated chart was shown reporting more income than expenses. Work on the building is due to start soon, and we will have to pay our share. The following work will be done:
- An office will be built in the empty space between the buildings.
- The current office will become a storage room.
- The toilets will be redone and a disabled toilet installed.

| Family Service
John Stinton had brought up the matter of reinstating the family service as
it used to exist: ie a more children friendly service on the first Sunday of
the month including such items as drama. The idea was that families get an
occasion to worship together. It was recalled that the family service as
such was abandoned because the children by and large preferred Sunday school
to it. Penny reported that her children prefer youth group to services in
church. It was thought that the idea in fact probably appealed more to
adults than to children. Also we would need an enthusiastic leader to get it
going again. Stephen and Alan admitted to it not being really their profile.
Alan thought that the family service was probably an english tradition, used
by some churches as a weak form of evangelism. Jon suggested that it might
be a good idea to have a service that the children (youth group) help plan
once a quarter. Dona reported that in their old church the teenagers
sometimes prepared the service. Penny agreed with this idea but added that
she thought the Youth should come to 'normal' services too (preferably
family oriented), once a month being a good rhythm. Our youth need to be
prepared for adult life, through the youth group and in attending adult
services in church. Claire had previously made this point, saying that
there should be a better transition between the youth group activities and
normal services, because when young people went away as students, they
sometimes had trouble adapting to "adult" churches.

| Looking at our experience of St Marc’s (lead by Howard)
Howard had prepared a questionnaire with the aim of highlighting the positive aspects of the church rather thatn having a gripe session (the questionnaire should be attached). What is the church at its best? What could it be in the future? He insisted that when interviewing someone, one should listen and not do to much talking. We formed pairs to do the interviews and then all reported back. (a detailed report should be done from what we wrote on the board). The main highlights most people agreed on were friendliness, sense of community, diversity and tolerance.
