- 73. Approval of minutes of last meeting & matters arising
- Matters Arising :
- About 25 people at lunches during Lent
- Teenagers group now meeting and preparing drama for Easter. Thanks to Neil for his part in launching this !
- 74. Treasurer's report
- Copies of accounts were given out.
- In 2009 a backlog of 2008 social security charges was paid.
- Giving to charity has really gone up.
- Difference in Chaplain's phone & internet bills explained by change of provider service
- Loss of £4400 in the year
- The accounts were accepted and a vote of thanks to Richard (& Jane) was made.
- There is a challenge ahead. So far 5 people have pledged money.
- Average collection per month is €2500, compared to bedget €6500.
- This implies paying UK pension fund contributions out of reserves.
- Income tax rebate in France is interesting, but not everyone is rich enough to even pay income tax.
- 75. Fanny & Mark's ordination candidatures
- Fanny had been to the meeting in Rome. It went fine. They also met with Xavier. They didn't know Fanny wasn't officially an anglican, maybe she needs to have been one for a year before starting training ? Bishop Pierre is eager to push on.
- Stephen has met with Mark, now a group of council members need to discuss with him too. A group was set up of the following: Val, Alan, Elizabeth, David, Alison, Neil, Fanny. A date will be arranged.
- 75. Bishop Pierre's visit 10-11
- Bishop Pierre will come for Fanny & Xavier's wedding on April 10th 11H30, followed by apéritif dinatoire. Bishop Pierre will arrive Friday night and depart Sunday afternoon. On Sunday he will lead a communion service when Fanny and Xavier will be received into the anglican church. A church lunch will then follow (rather than have it on Easter day). A council meeting with Bishop Pierre could take place either Saturday or Sunday afternoon.
- 76. Diocesan Strategic Review - we are asked to watch a 20 minute DVD and send in our reactions
- We watched a DVD sent by the diocese, whose main aim was better to organise the archdeaconeries.
- It proposes a system of 4 paid archdeacons, which would be better than the current situation, where Chaplains are doing 2 jobs at once. All were in favour of the propositions. The cost to each chaplaincy is said not be very great.
- The Chaplain will send a response to the Bishops.
- 77. Past & Future dates
- Maundy Thursday : book please !
- Good Friday: Howard will lead the service/meditation
- This coming Sunday Mothering Sunday !
- Palm Sunday 28 March; ICS ! Info to be given in French and English.
- Bush Dance: Lots of tickets sold !
- Taizé weekend: Probably Ascension (13th - 16th May). The group should leave on Wednesday. It is for the under 30s + teenagers over 17. The cost is very low. Between €5,70 and €8,80.
- 78. Any other matters
