A day in the life of Jesus (Mark 1v29-39) by Stephen Coffin

Jesus goes home with his friends

  • Friends are important to Jesus
  • Do we open our homes & make friends?

He meets Peter's mother-in-law

  • Family relations matter to Jesus
  • Do we make quality time for our family?

She's unwell, so he heals her

  • Jesus cares about everyday matters
  • Do we bring everything to Jesus?

Crowds come for healing & deliverance

  • Jesus is open to everyone
  • How open are we to others?

Jesus heals & releases them

  • He has the power & compassion to help
  • What expectations do we have of Jesus?

Next morning he gets up early to pray alone

  • Jesus needed to make time for prayer
  • How important is prayer to us?
  • When is the best time for you to pray?
  • What can you do practically?

His disciples want him to continue his success but Jesus moves on

  • Jesus is open to God's guidance and clear in his goals
  • Do we listen to God, even when it doesn't seem necessary?
  • Are we open to the next challenge or stuck in our ways?

Jesus heals & preaches

  • Action & words go together with Jesus
  • "Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." (Colossians 3v17)

Bloom where you are planted
Pray: may God give us grace to:

  • Open our lives to family, friends & all whom he brings our way
  • Relate them & everyday life to Jesus
  • Make prayer a priority, especially for God's guidance
  • "Whatever we do, whether in word or deed, may we do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him"
