We are pleased too to include information from "friends" of our Church who want to communicate with us via our web pages. The links below will take you to news and information submitted to us. If you would like something included here please e-mail our Chaplain. Welcome to our first "Friends" page. We have been very encouraged by the response to our letter and will be printing the news you have sent us in future issues of the newsletter. Please keep your letters and e-mails coming, as we love to hear from you. In this issue we give you news of Ruth Eales and Janet Bass. Best wishes to everyone for Christmas. Janet writes:Dear Stephen, Thank you for your letter concerning the Friends of St Marc's. It is a wonderful idea to set up a network to keep people in touch and, perhaps, to reunite people after many years. I was in Grenoble as a student - 1984-1985 - as part of my degree course. I enjoyed great fellowship and fun with the congregation of St Marc's at the time and am still in touch with a few old friends. Not that they would appreciate being labelled "old" of course! I loved my time in Grenoble and still have many fond memories of the place and the people. I am now teaching in a boys' boarding school in Berkshire having spent eight years teaching in schools in Nairobi, Kenya. I thoroughly enjoy my job although it is rather all consuming. I attend the local parish church in the village; the congregation is small to say the least but twice a term the school join with the village for a united service so the numbers swell from fifteen to about a hundred and twenty! I would love to get in touch with anyone from St Marc's who still remembers me. I do hear from David Bailey and indeed enjoyed seeing him in May after what we thought must have been sixteen years. That was a frightening thought! I will enjoy logging on to the web site as well. Once again, thank you for your letter and I look forward to hearing any news from St Marc's - a very special place indeed. With very best wishes, Janet Bass - jrbass64@hotmail.com Ruth writes: Hello Stephen, I came to the church four or five years ago as a student and I will always have a soft spot for it!! I wonder if you could send my warm greetings to everyone. Since leaving Grenoble I have finished my degree and been working with young offenders. I am currently training on a PGCE to teach French and Italian. I am attending a church in Reading and am very involved with the youth work there. I have settled in Reading and share a house with a Chinese student and also my kitten, Aslan. Hope that's enough information to be going on with! I am glad everything is going well for you and for the church. I am very impressed with the new website! It will be lovely to keep in touch with people. God bless, Ruth |
