The English Speaking Church of Grenoble was founded in 1966 to help people in Grenoble and the surrounding area who speak English. At first it was under the care of the Chaplain of Lyon, but in 1994 became an independent Chaplaincy.
We are part of the Church of England's Diocese of Europe, and therefore part of the wider Anglican Church, which has branches throughout the world. We work in partnership with Intercontinental Church Society (ICS) in ministry to people who speak English (at whatever level). Our Church has members from many national backgrounds, currently including, Belgium, Britain, Cameroon, Canada, China, France, India, Nigeria, South Africa, America, and the West Indies. Members are from many different denominations of the Christian Church, seeking to worship and learn together, emphasising the fundamentals which we share in common and being enriched by our different backgrounds. Some people who come are trying to find out whether Christianity is true, others because they want to use or improve their English. Some are seeking friendship with other English speakers. Some come most weeks, others occasionally. We try to offer a warm welcome and acceptance to all, because that is the way Jesus greeted everyone. We hope that you will join us.
